Who should attend:
Advanced practice providers, physicians, and any other practitioners interested in quality improvement foundations
A 4-part virtual seminar series for Advanced Practice Providers interested in understanding the foundations of performance improvement (process, quality and outcomes), and applying this knowledge in their practice. This series will help you to evaluate problems in your work setting, identify the relevant data needed to better understand current processes, then design and test a pilot change process.
Seminar recordings will be provided to all registrants. See CE accreditation info & registration link on page 2.
This series is a part of the IHP’s Advanced Practice Hub, a collection of relevant and just-in-time learning opportunities for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, consisting of webinars, face-to-face programming, podcast interviews, etc.
In Seminar 3 - "What Do You Aim To Improve?", participants will:
Identify the components of a specific aim
Determine the appropriate change idea for your context
Define your measures—conceptual and operational
Establish data collection plan
Decide how to analyze data
Maragaret (Margie) Hamilton Sipe DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FAONL
Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Programs, Associate Professor
MGH Institute of Health Professions
Margie Sipe is Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program and Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at MGH Institute of Health Professions. She first joined the IHP faculty in 2012 as a term lecturer in informatics in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Her career trajectory has spanned nursing education, nursing leadership practice, and consultation.
Dr. Sipe is certified as a nursing executive-advanced (NEA-BC) by ANCC. She has provided leadership in several clinical practice roles at local institutions. She has also served as the performance improvement consultant for the MA- Hospital Engagement Network (HEN) project for the state of MA through the Massachusetts Health and Hospital Association’s, AHA-HRET group, working with national and state hospital leaders to improve outcomes on defined metrics.
Along with her roles at the Institute, she serves as a Nursing Program Director in Quality at Brigham and Women's Hospital where one of her assignments was assuring that metrics from the EPIC information system were reliable and valid.
In support of improving patient care, MGH Institute of Health Professions is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
MGH Institute of Health Professions designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™. Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in this activity.
AAPA accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ from organizations accredited by ACCME.

The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) accepts credit from organizations accredited by the ANCC.
Criteria for successful completion include attendance at the live webinar or viewing of the recording, and submission of a post-evaluation.
