IHP Clinical Teachers Workshop Spring 2019: How to Use Questions to Teach

Course Overview

This is a 2-hour workshop intended for clinical teachers and preceptors from any and all disciplines and specialties. It is part of the interprofessional Clinical Teaching Workshop Series being offered through the IHP Office of Continuing and Professional Development, hosted by the MGH Norman Knight Nursing Center.

 - Wellness and Mindfulness
 - Evidence-based Practice in Clinical Teaching
 - Observing and Assessing Competency
 - The Feedback Challenge
 - Intersectionality



 The learner will be able to:
 - Discuss at least 2 questioning techniques used to teach learners
 - Investigate a learner's knowledge and understanding
 - Advance the learner's engagement in new learning
 - Identify 2 precepting activities in which they can use new questioning skills.


Pre-workshop readings will be sent out a week prior to the live workshop. Live workshop will include case analysis and case-based problem-solving in small groups, sharing of information and strategies with colleagues, and feedback from other participants.
